I generally try to avoid people whenever possible, there are however days where skiing just needs to and should be a community experience. During those days I often find myself cringing while watching my fellow backcountry skiing enthusiasts. It's not that I feel superior or special, it's just that I see so many folks working harder than they need to and wasting time and energy. I want to be very clear however, time in the mountains is special and should be cherished, I think that by employing better equipment, better techniques, and by improving fitness, folks can find more enjoyment in the backcountry. Even if you don't make it home a minute sooner, you might have time for one more pow run, you might make it home with way more energy, or you might have time for a sit-down lunch with an incredible view. If you get really dialed you might just be submitting your own FKTs to this website.
